A curate at the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York was arrested last week by Port Authority Police for drunk driving and possession of narcotics. On 13 March 2015 police arrested the Rev. Diane Reiners (53) as she exited the Holland Tunnel in Jersey City. According to police reports Ms. Reiners was pulled over by police responding to reports that a woman driving a 2004 Toyota was driving erratically, having swerved between lanes and striking a tunnel curb. Port Authority police found an open bottle of vodka in her car, as well as a plastic water bottle filled with vodka. The Brooklyn resident was also charged with criminal possession of narcotics after finding more than 200 tramadol pills (a painkiller) and other narcotics prescribed to someone else in her car. A spokesman for the diocese confirmed to Anglican Ink that Ms. Reiners was a priest of the Diocese of New York and that they were aware of the incident, but offered no comment at this time.
