Assault charges filed against Barnabas Fund international director

The international director of the Barnabas Fund, the Rev. Patrick Sookhdeo, is to appear before the Swindon magistrate’s court to answer to charges of sexual assault. A longtime activist for the persecuted church and director of the Barnabas Fund, which serves Christians in over 60 countries across the globe, Dr. Sookhdeo was arrested in March on suspicion of having assaulted a women and was bailed to appear before a magistrate this week.  In a statement given to the Church of England Newspaper a spokesman for the Barnabas Fund UK said: “We are aware of the article about Dr Sookhdeo in The Independent newspaper. Dr Sookhdeo strongly denies the allegations. Our policy is to deal with matters such as this in a confidential and discreet manner, for the protection of all those involved and to allow justice to take its course. Barnabas Fund UK is unable to provide any additional information about the complainant in this case.”
