The 2014 priority theme of UNCSW is “Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for women and girls.”

She was vice president of International Programs at Planned Parenthood Federation of America and senior program officer at Columbia University where she supervised a $50 million Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation initiative. Pilling managed primary health care programs in Africa and Latin America for 13 years (Ghana, Kenya, Bolivia, Costa Rica and Zimbabwe) and provided short-term technical assistance around the world. Dr. Pilling is affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University School of Population Health and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
