PB to receive the Archbishop Ramsey Award

Nashotah House Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the presentation of the Archbishop Ramsey Award to the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, The Most Reverend Michael B. Curry.

The award will be presented during a special service on campus in recognition of Bishop Curry’s profound ministry and leadership in the Episcopal Church.

“I am honored to be receiving the Archbishop Michael Ramsey award and I look forward to visiting and preaching at Nashotah House. Growing up I was influenced by Archbishop Ramsey and his work, and by priests from Nashotah House, so this visit and award are truly special to me,” stated the Presiding Bishop Michael Curry.

Named for the 100th Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Reverend The Lord Arthur Michael Ramsey, the Archbishop Ramsey Award is presented to individuals who distinguish themselves in the areas of Ecclesiology, Ecumenism and Liturgy. As an inspirational preacher, teacher, and author, Presiding Bishop Curry actively raises the visibility of the Episcopal Church with a spirited focus on recruiting ordained and lay church leaders.

Throughout his ministry, Bishop Curry’s efforts have resulted in the founding of ecumenical summer day camps for children, preaching missions, the Absalom Jones initiative, the creation of education centers and the brokering of millions of dollars of investment in inner city neighborhoods. His international campaigns have saved thousands of lives.

Currently serving as the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, he now leads the 1.9 million members of the Episcopal Church, part of the Anglican Communion of nearly 85 million members around the world.

“We are privileged to recognize Bishop Curry for his dedication and contributions to the Episcopal Church. His personal flair and unique ability to connect and minister to others throughout the world is admirable. We are especially grateful for his efforts to raise the visibility of the name of Jesus in church discourse,” stated Bishop Daniel Martins, Chairman of the Board at Nashotah House.

Following the award presentation, Bishop Curry will deliver the House’s convocation address during a special matriculation service and Evensong in Adams Hall on the Nashotah House campus.
