An Anglo-Catholic Staten Island parish was firebombed on Sunday afternoon, the NYPD reports. Sometime after 2:00 in the afternoon a Molotov cocktail was tossed through an open window at St Paul’s Memorial Episcopal Church on St Paul’s Avenue in the outer borough. Police and firefighters were on the scene at 2:20 and extinguished the blaze. No one was injured in the incident and the damage to the building, built in 1866 of rough-faced,  blocks of Staten Island trap rock with brownstone trim and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980,  was minor, a police spokeswoman told the Staten Island Advance. According to police, the fire-bombing is being investigated as a hate crime by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes units. No arrests have yet been made in the incident and the investigation is on-going.
