A provincial inquiry into charges of financial misconduct by the Rt. Rev. Valentino Mokiwa has been launched by the East African Church

A provincial inquiry into charges of financial misconduct by the former primate of Tanzania and current bishop of Dar es Salaam, the Rt. Rev. Valentino Mokiwa, has been launched by the East African Church. At their 12-13 April 2016 in Dodoma, the House of Bishops agreed to investigate charges of corruption brought by members of his diocese. The provincial secretary of the ACT declined to respond to questions about the investigation, but members of the House of Bishops said the review would look into allegations the bishop had sold equipment given to the diocese by overseas Anglican partners and NGOs and pocketed the proceeds. Supporters of the former bishop report the charges are without merit and are motivated by tribal and political jealousies.
