The Most Rev. Albert Chama, Archbishop of Central Africa and Bishop of Northern Zambia.

Archbishop Chama was born in Northern Rhodesia and was educated at the University of Zimbabwe. He worked in the ceramics industry before training for the ministry at Bishop Gaul Theological College in Harare. He was awarded a Master of Arts degree in community management from the University of Birmingham. Before his consecration as Bishop of Northern Zambia in January 2003, he served as a parish priest and university chaplain. In 2007 he was elected dean and acting archbishop of the province. On 17 Feb 2011 the house of bishops of the CPCA elected him the sixth archbishop of the province and he was installed on 20 March 2011 at Holy Cross Cathedral in Lusaka. Vacancies in several sees in Malawi and Zimbabwe had prevented a quorum of bishops from forming for four years following the 2007 retirement of Archbishop Bernard Malango. With the bishops of Harare, Chad Gandiya and Sebastian Bakare, Archbishop Chama led the fight against Dr. Nolbert Kunonga, who sought to break the diocese of Harare off from the province after he was disciplined for misconduct. He is married and has four children, two boys and two girls.
