Tasmania setting for next hearing of the Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Sexual Abuse

The Royal Commission has announced that it will hold a public hearing in Hobart on 27 Jan 2016 to inquire into the response of the Diocese of Tasmania to allegations of child sexual abuse.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has announced that it will hold a public hearing in Hobart on 27 Jan 2016 to inquire into the response of the Diocese of Tasmania to allegations of child sexual abuse. Established in 2013, the commission has investigated churches, schools, sporting associations and state institutions. The Hobart hearings are part of a wider review of the Church of England Boys’ Society and the Dioceses of Tasmania, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane. Past hearings have heard from survivors of abuse as well as the those responsible for the “systems, policies and procedures in place” to respond to the allegations.
