On October 31st, Christ Episcopal Church in Delavan welcomed the community into a unique experience of hospitality and holiness. In conjunction with the city’s Trick or Treat event, the parish hosted its All Hallow’s Eve Sacred Space Experience, blending sacred tradition with neighborhood celebration.

Over 500 costumed visitors—children, families, and adults—were joyfully invited inside by church members dressed as hot dogs. Once through the red doors, guests were greeted with warmth, laughter, and a touch of the holy. They received candy and free hot dogs, rang the historic church bell, and entered a candlelit sanctuary alive with sacred chants, stained glass light, and the glow of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ memorial altar.

In response to rising costs and delayed SNAP benefits, parishioners and friends assembled more than 55 food bags and gift cards, available for anyone in need. The gesture reflected the church’s commitment to practical compassion as an extension of its worship.

The Prayer Team offered blessings and intercessions at the baptismal font for all who desired prayer. Requests ranged from healing and financial relief to thanksgiving for new babies, safe housing, and the joy of a fun evening together. “This was indeed a holy event,” the team reflected.

The night was made possible through the dedicated efforts of dozens of volunteers—from the kitchen and greeting teams to those who donated food, candy, and funds. Every smile, every prayer, and every hot dog served was a small act of grace, embodying the love of Christ in the heart of Delavan.
