The Synod of Bishops, sitting as an Electoral College, today elected the the Ven Mcebisi Pinyana, Archdeacon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Cape Town, as the new Bishop of Grahamstown.

He was elected on the third ballot during an online session of the Synod, presided over by Archbishop Thabo Makgoba of Cape Town.

The election was delegated to the Bishops after an Elective Assembly of the Diocese was unable to elect after four ballots in June this year.

Please keep Archdeacon Pinyana, his family and the Diocese of Grahamstown in your prayers as they prepare for his consecration and installation.

Sincerely in Christ,

THE REVD CANON GRANT WALTERS

Provincial Executive Officer
