A priest of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa has been elected a vice-moderator of the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission meeting at Caraiman Monastery in Romania. On 22 June 2015 five vice-moderators were elected to serve until the WCC’s 2020 assembly, including the Rev. Makhosazana K. Nzimande of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. Dr. Nzimande serves as rector of All Saints Ladysmith and she was formerly on the theological faculty of the University of Zululand. The 49-members of the commission are drawn from 33 churches and according to a press release from the WCC are “engaged in the tasks of discerning and planning the commission’s work on matters of Christian unity and ecumenical theology in the period from 2015 to 2020.”
