Justin Holcomb elected fifth bishop of Central Florida

Dr. Justin Holcomb was elected on the first ballot on 14 January 2023 as the fifth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. Dr. Holcomb, who has served as canon for vocations in Central Florida since 2013, received 107 of 176 clergy votes, and 143 of 244 lay votes, giving him the victory on the first ballot.

The Very Rev. Roy Allison received 37 clergy votes and 46 lay votes, while the Rev. Stace Tafoya received 31 clergy votes and 34 lay votes. Three delegates voted present.

Subject to confirmation by the wider Episcopal Church, Bishop-elect Holcomb will succeed the Rt. Rev. Gregory O. Brewer, who retires in six months.
