School chaplain reported to police as a terror threat for preaching sermon on tolerance and free expression of ideas

Supported by the Christian Legal Centre, Rev. Dr Bernard Randall, a former chaplain of Christ’s College, Cambridge, is taking Trent College to court for discrimination, harassment, victimisation and unfair dismissal after the school reported him – without his knowledge – to the government anti-terror watchdog for a sermon he gave at the school on ‘identity politics’.

Bernard commented: “My story sends a message to other Christians that you are not free to talk about your faith. It seems it is no longer enough to just ‘tolerate’ LGBT ideology. You must accept it without question and no debate is allowed without serious consequences. Someone else will decide what is and what isn’t acceptable, and suddenly you can become an outcast, possibly for the rest of your life.”

  1. Dr Randall’s sermon seems to have been quite mild and his words on the video are quite mild. His suggestion that the world might be going mad is an understatement. There is certainly some very strange thnking behind what has happened to him.

  2. Man, the Church of England is running headlong to join the Episcopal Church on the other side of the looking glass. I understand the concept of a Constitutional Monarchy but I have to wonder if Her Majesty is just baffled at some of the nutty things that are happening on her watch? Couldn’t she privately suggest to His Grace that he might just pull his head out of his arse?
