Episcopal Church commends Egypt’s National Team for its FIFA World Cup 2026 performance and reaffirms its continued support

The Episcopal/Anglican Church in Egypt, under the leadership of The Most Rev. Dr. Sami Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria and Archbishop in Egypt, expressed its appreciation for the commendable performance of Egypt’s national football team during its match against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Church affirmed that the determination, resilience, and fighting spirit displayed by the players reflected the finest qualities of Egyptian sport and were a source of pride and encouragement for the nation. It also commended the dedication and hard work of both the coaching staff and the players throughout the tournament.

The statement further emphasized that sport carries a noble message that extends beyond match results. It has the power to unite the people of a nation around a common purpose while promoting the values of belonging, teamwork, and hope.

The Episcopal Church reaffirmed its continued support for Egypt’s national team and expressed its best wishes for continued success and achievement in future international competitions.
