The Archbishop of Canterbury will make pastoral visits to four dioceses in 2026, to meet with clergy and congregations working and worshipping in parishes, chaplaincies, schools, healthcare settings and church-run projects across the Church of England.

Archbishop Sarah’s first visit will be to the Diocese of Peterborough from 16-17 May, which will include meeting with hospital chaplains at Kettering General Hospital, and presiding at Evensong at Peterborough Cathedral.

In June, she will visit the Diocese of Rochester; in September, she will visit the Diocese of Leicester to help mark its 100th anniversary, and in October, she will visit the Diocese of Hereford to celebrate its 1350th anniversary. In February 2027, she will visit the Diocese of Worcester. 

Archbishop Sarah said: “As I start this new ministry, I am eager to visit dioceses and parishes across the Church of England to shine a light on where God is at work in local churches and communities.

“Visiting Peterborough next month will be an opportunity to witness God at work in this diocese, from its chaplaincies and care homes, to its churches and cathedral. I am looking forward to spending time with Bishop Debbie and her teams, seeing firsthand the impact that the church is having in these communities.

“Having walked through Rochester and received such a warm welcome in its churches during my pilgrimage to Canterbury and in Holy Week, it will be a joy to spend longer there in June.

“Being invited to celebrate with Bishop Martyn and the Diocese of Leicester for their centenary celebrations in September is a real privilege, marking one hundred years of this diverse diocese.

“I am also looking forward to visiting Hereford, to join with the diocese as they mark 1,350 years of faithful witness.”
