Dear Friends,
I write to share my outrage and sadness over the attack of our siblings at Temple Israel, West Bloomfield Township. No community should have to endure the pain, panic, and fear that they experienced today.
We stand in solidarity with our neighbors and friends at Temple Israel and the wider Jewish community.
All Houses of worship must be sanctuaries, not targets. In Michigan, this is the third attack on a house of worship in less than a year. When violence enters a place of prayer and learning, it wounds not only those present but our whole human family. And so we will also continue our work of ending Gun Violence in Michigan.
In moments like these, prayer reminds us that we do not face fear or grief alone. May our Jewish siblings, our neighbors, our communities, and all of us in this troubled world be surrounded by God’s compassionate care.
God of peace, surround the people of Temple Israel and all of us with your protection and care. Heal the fear caused by violence, strengthen their community in hope, and guide all of us in the ways of your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
