Forward in Faith Festival held at St Alban the Martyr Holborn

Forward in Faith (UK) held its annual festival today at St Alban the Martyr, Holborn. today (10 May 2025). The Rt. Rev. Jonathan Baker, Bishop of Fulham preached at the Eucharist on the importance of Christian unity, noting the 1700th anniversary this year of the Council of Niceae and the election this week of Pope Leo XIV. The Bishop of Oswestry, the Rt. Rev. Paul Thomas, during the afternoon session asked the Church of England’s Catholic Societies to prioritize good governance and financial transparency. He cited the Nolan Principles, also known as the Seven Principles of Public Life, established by the Committee on Standards in Public Life, aim to ensure that office holders acted in the public interest. (The principles are: Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty, and Leadership.(

The newly installed Bishop of Aston, the Rt. Rev. Esther Prior, joined the conference by by video call, telling FiF she supported the 2014 settlement and opposed moves by WATCH to end it. The settlement provides a home in the Church of England for those who are opposed to the ordination of women to the priesthood and to the episcopate.
