The Society and Forward in Faith are greatly saddened to hear of the death of the Holy Father, Pope Francis. The first Jesuit and the first from the southern hemisphere to hold that office, his pontificate was marked by a strong engagement with the many social issues facing the world and, within the Church, by the commencement of a Synodal process to discern the priorities of the clergy and the laity. We join with Christians of all traditions who mourn his passing in this Easter Week in the hope of the resurrection. May Pope Francis rest in peace.
