The project, supported by the United Society for the Partnership in the Gospel (USPG), will run from January 2025 to April 2027and will be implemented in partnership with the Forestry Department, Environmental Management Sector, and local authorities.

During the launch, Reverend Father Macdonald Njalamano Banda, General Secretary of the Anglican Council in Malawi, emphasized the urgency of addressing waste management to protect the environment and combat climate change. Canon Brighton Chitowe, Vicar General of the Anglican Diocese of Malawi, reinforced the importance of community engagement and active participation in ensuring the sustainability of the initiative.

The project will initially focus on engaging youth through local churches, empowering them as key drivers of climate action. The campaign will also advocate for responsible waste disposal, promote domestic recycling, and push for stronger enforcement of bylaws regulating waste management practices.
