Jonathan Kabiru

The Ven Canon Jonathan Kabiru is set to become the 3rd Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Nairobi. Canon Kabiru was elected on Saturday 18th January during Official electoral college Proceedings.

Aged 48, the Bishop-Elect has been serving as the Vicar of ACK St. Gertrude Kasarani and Archdeacon of Kasarani Archdeaconry in the Diocese. He is married to Faith Kabiru and are blessed with 3 Children.

The Ven. Canon Kabiru was ordained as Priest on the 27th of July 2003 and has over 22 years of ministerial experience. He has experience in Church administration mission and evangelism, corporate governance; resource mobilization; leadership and strategy development and supporting ministry delivery in the diocese.

Within the Community, the Bishop-Elect holds several positions in the governance structures of several organizations in the public and private sectors. He has also participated in several research and publication works, offering pastoral approaches to strengthening ministry, urban mission,n and leadership development within the Church.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies (Kenyatta University), a Bachelor of Theology (Kenya Methodist University), and a Diploma in Theology and Development (St. Paul’s University). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Organization Development from CEBU Doctor’s University, Philippines.

His consecration and enthronement as Bishop of Nairobi Diocese will take place on the 16th of March 2025, making him the 3rd of the Bishops of Nairobi to be enthroned at the ACK St. Stephens Cathedral which became the sea of the ACK Diocese of Nairobi in 2002.

He takes over from the Rt. Rev. Joel Waweru who has retired.
