On October 26, 2024, His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Bishop of All Saints Cathedral Diocese, and Bishop in Ordinary of the Kenya Defence Forces presided over the dedication and consecration of the newly constructed St. James Anglican Church at the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) in Karen, Nairobi. Earlier, he, along with KDF Chaplains, also consecrated St. Paul’s Anglican Church at Langata Barracks.

The ceremonies were attended by the Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Tarus, and marked a significant milestone for St. James Anglican Church, which had been in planning since 1989 when JCSC personnel recognized the need for a dedicated place of worship.

During his sermon, Archbishop Ole Sapit praised the church’s architecture and encouraged congregants to seek inner spiritual beauty.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by KDF personnel and assured them of his prayers for protection during their operations, both domestically and internationally.

Lieutenant General Tarus, reflecting on the church’s journey, recalled his own difficulties finding a place of worship while a student at JCSC in 2005. He quoted 2 Chronicles 7:16, emphasizing the significance of the new church as a place to connect with God.

Additionally, he pledged resources for the construction of a Sunday school sanctuary, including 100 bags of cement and two lorries of machine-cut stones.

The event was attended by Commandant JCSC Maj. Gen. Eric Kinuthia, senior officers, chaplains from various KDF units, service personnel, invited guests, and families.
