An announcement from Emmanuel Church.
We, the Church Wardens and Parish Council of Emmanuel Church in Morecambe write with great distress to inform you that our beloved presbyter Rev’d Brett Murphy has been unfairly dismissed and his license revoked.
We are greatly disappointed to hear that our bishop the Right Rev’d John Fenwick has not upheld confidentiality and respected the legal appeal process which is underway. We had hoped to keep this out of the general public so that the appeals process could proceed without interference. Due to this, we feel compelled to make a statement.
We hope that the bishops actions in removing our presbyters name from the FCE website immediately and informing members of the public who have contacted him, that Rev’d Brett Murphy is no longer a part of the FCE, is not evidence of a predetermined outcome of the appeal process.
We will release further statements once the appeal is completed. Please refrain from public comment or speculation at this time.
Please uphold our church family, our presbyter and his family, especially his pregnant wife, in your prayers during this very stressful time and pray that justice will prevail.
