The 2023 Church Society AGM was held on August 30th at King’s Park Conference Centre. Jason Ward, one of the Vice-Chairs of the Church Society Council, chaired the meeting and began with a Bible thought from 1 Peter 4.
The meeting unanimously elected our Honorary Officials: The Rt Revd Rod Thomas as our Honorary President; Revd Dick Farr, Canon Michael Walters, Mrs Alison Ruoff and Revd David Phillips as our Honorary Vice-Presidents; and Revd Rupert Mackay as our Honorary Treasurer.
Four Council members had reached the end of their elected term. Mark Burkill had decided not to stand for re-election and Jason expressed our thanks for all his service, previously in Reform and as Chair of the Council immediately following the merger. Mark continues to serve on the Church Society Trust, our patronage body. James Hughes, Rob Munro and Andrew Towner were nominated for re-election, along with Edward Keene and Corinne Brixton to be newly elected. Since there were more places available than nominees, all were elected unopposed.
