Church of Uganda will join the rest of Africa to celebrate the Africa Climate Week 2023 (ACW2023) under the theme “Cities, Urban and Rural settlement achieving zero waste and circular economy”.
On 5th September 2023, Church of Uganda will hold two advocacy events; Cleaning exercise and Press conference to engage the key duty bearers on proper waste management and disposal.
This will begin with a clean city walk from the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe at 8:00am to Nakulabye (Kiwunya Zone) where the cleaning exercise and the Press Conference will take place led by His Grace the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu.
As the Church, we acknowledge that God gave mankind a responsibility of being a steward of His creation’ Genesis 2:15. ” The Lord God took man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” In this, we recognize that all creation belongs to God and that we are accountable to Him as stewards of His creation and the surrounding environment.
This is in partnership with ACT Alliance, Rural Community Action Based Organization (RACOBAO) and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
