Queen Elizabeth at the 2015 General Synod service at Westminster Abbey 2.jpg

9th September 2022

With the death of Her Majesty the Queen much will be rightly said of her example and attitude of service throughout her long reign, but I think that the evidence of what she said and how she lived would point to her trust in the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who gave Himself for her to save her and empower her for that service.

At this time of sadness for her family and many around the world in these challenging times, let us turn to the promises of God, remembering The Righteous One who by dying offers righteousness to any who like Queen Elizabeth II trusts in Him.

Psalm 112:6–8 (ESV): 7 He [the righteous] is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.

We of the different nations represented by the congregations of the Anglican Network in Europe thank God for her faithful service to so many, her open sense of accountability and indebtedness to the Lord Jesus Christ, and the promise of God that she now enjoys in his presence to the full.

We pray for all who mourn, especially the royal family, for the nation in transition, for the new king and most of all for the Queen’s witness to the Lord Jesus Christ to draw many to him.
