Bishop in Tirunelveli consecrated

The Rt. Rev. A.R.G.S.T. Barnabas was consecrated on Sunday to serve as Bishop in Tirunelveli in the Church of South India.  The Most Rev. Dharmaraj Rasalam, Moderator of the CSI with the Deputy Moderator, the Rt. Rev. Reuben Mark presided over the ceremony at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tirunelveli in India’s Tamil Nadu state.

Bishop Barnabas was born on 17 March 1960 and was educated at the Union Biblical Seminary in Pune earning BA and BD degrees. He was ordained a deacon in 1985 and priest the following year and has served his entire career in the CSI Tirunelveli Diocese. From 1996 to 1997 and 2002-2003 he participated in CPE chaplaincy residency programs in the United States. His last post prior to his election as bishop was as dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tirunelveli.
