Two, very short, but timely interviews with Bishop Dr Ashenden. I have listened to the two interviews three times. The Bishops words are prophetic. In particular, the comment that England will become an Islamic Republic in the near future was quite striking. Looking at the obvious facts, my guess is that this prophecy will be fulfilled before our two generations (those of us who are in our late 50’s to mid 70’s) pass away. By the way, in the same spirit the Bishop made the comment, my comment too IS NOT a racist or Islam-phobic one. Just put the facts before us together and you will get the picture.
It’s of great value to recall Plato’s five regimes which he outlines in his Republic (Book VIII): Aristocracy, Timocracy, Oligarchy, Democracy and Tyranny. Plato masterfully discusses how these regimes sequentially and progressively degenerate starting with Aristocracy at the top and Tyranny at the bottom.
If one can look at the facts the Bishop Gavin has presented (here in these two interviews and also else where in his presentations) in the light of Plato’s theory of the five regimes, one doesn’t have to go too far to see at which stage England (and the whole of Europe) is at and where it is heading.
Very sobering stuff.
Gavin Ashenden is both Christian and courageous – not all Christians are courageous. Many hide their fear behind a disguise of “tolerance” and “compassion”, and that “we all worship the one true God:” Even if He issues us with violent instructions….
I remember when he first came to the public’s attention over the Glasgow Cathedral marking the feast of the Epiphany by inviting a Muslim student to read a chapter from the Qu’ran..
He resigned his appointment as a Queen’s chaplain and opposed the basis by which women were elected to the ministry i.e. the Cof E’s commitment to equal opportunities which has its Biblical precedence in the 2nd book of Lamentations.
Or was it the 1st book of Hesitations?
I can’t remember.
Anyway the Church, by which I mean the Body of Christ worldwide, desperately needs men and women who will stand up for the faith. That Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He was crucified and buried, and that on the third day -Alleluia! – He rose from the dead and lives for evermore as our High Priest and coming King.
It is not enough brothers and sisters in Christ, to laud folk like the Right Rev’d Gavin Ashenden; we must rally to the flag of our Lord and Saviour, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Despite our fears of physical violence or death we must stand together for the true faith. And let us admit it, many of us are afraid of those who would separate our heads from our shoulders because of our faith. But so much is at stake for our country, our culture our future. We desperately need leaders, not cowardly appeasers!
“Lord, whoever we are, whatever our position, help us to face our fears and stand in your authority against all the attacks of the evil one. In Jesu’s Name, Amen.”
After a wonderful Easter Vigil Mass, how good to see Bishop Ashenden boldly telling it as it is.
I suspect we will get the usual PC drivel from the ABoC in his Easter message…
Why, oh why, do you keep calling it “Judeo-Christian” culture? It’s Christian. And the Jews are no friends to it.
Ummm….. perhaps because without Judaism there would *not* be Christianity anywhere. Christianity has Jewish roots. So sad that you are so anti-semitic that you are blind to that fact. So very sad…..
I think about 1900 years of Christian history, many saints included, would find nothing to object to in what I wrote. You’re lucky to be so much more sanctified than all of them.
I am pretty sure that those many Christians over 1900 years held that the sacred scriptures included the Jewish scriptures.
Whatever the views of Jews now might be, I had always understood the term Judaeo-Christian to refer to the fact that prior to the coming of the Messiah, God’s plan and teaching was unfolded through the Jews. So its really looking at the Jews of the Old Testament, rather than the Jews of any later period.
