The 172-member House of Bishops of the Church of Nigeria meets this week outside of Abuja for its annual meeting of the church’s Standing Committee. The five day meeting held at St Andrew’s Church in Kubwa will be hosted by the Primate of All-Nigeria, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh. Archbishop Okoh is expected to report to his bishops on last month’s primates gathering in Canterbury as well as address Nigerian internal issues, including the government’s anti-corruption drive, declining infrastructure across the country, the conflict with Boko Haram, declining school standards, and separatist agitation in Igboland. The meeting concludes on 5 Feb 2016 with the consecration of the new Cathedral Church of St. Bartholomew in Kubwa.
