The Most Rev. Bolly Lapok, Archbishop of the Church of the Province of South East Asia and Bishop of Kuching; The Rt. Rev. Ng Moon Hing, Archbishop-elect of the Church of the Province of South East Asia and Bishop of West Malaysia
On 2 September 2015, an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Synod of the Church of the Province of South East Asia elected the Rt. Rev. Ng Moon Hing as 5th archbishop and primate of the province in succession to the Most Rev. Bolly Lapok, Bishop of Kuching. Born on 12 November 1955 in Ipoh, Perak state in Malaya, Bishop Ng earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1978 from Monash University in Australia and worked in the construction industry before entering Seminari Teologi Malaysia where he earned a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1985. Ordained deacon in 1985 and priest in 1986 in the Diocese of West Malaysia served as vicar of St. Peter’s Church, Ipoh, appointed a canon of St Mary’s Cathedral in Kuala Lumpur in 1996 and Archdeacon of the Lower North Archdeaconry in 2001. On 5 May 2007, Bishop Ng was consecrated the 4th Bishop of West Malaysia. He assumes office as archbishop in February 2016. He is married to Ding Siew Lan and has three children: Joshua Ng Tarng Jiun, Sarah Ng Jia Yi, and Charlotte Ng Jia Lerd.
The Most Rev. Bolly Anak Lapok was born on 10 August 1952 in a village near Sri Aman in Sarawak and is of Iban, or Dyak, ancestry. In 1971 he began his theological training at the House of Epiphany in Kuching earning the degrees of Diploma in Theology, Licentiate in Theology and Scholar in Theology between 1974 and 1976. He underwent advanced studies at the University of Birmingham and earned a Master of Arts degree in 2007. Ordained deacon and priest in 1975 for the Diocese of Kuching, he served at St Luke’s in Sri Aman from 1975 to 1978, St Boniface in Mamut from 1979 to 1983, St John’s Sibu from 1983 to 1984, and St Thomas in Bintulu from 1984 to 1991. In 1991 he was appointed Archdeacon of North Borneo and Sarawak and on 5 Sept 1999 was elected Assistant Bishop of Kuching. On 15 April 2007 he was elected Bishop of Kuching and on 23 Sept 2011 was elected Archbishop of the Province of South East Asia and installed on 12 Feb 2012 in succession to Archbishop John Chew of Singapore. He was married to the former Lily Unchua in 1981 until her death in 2006. He is a member of Global South primates group. He married for a second time in 2007 to Mary Jean Baba and has four children.
