Murekezi hails Anglican Church role in Rwanda’s development

Rwandan prime minister’s press communique following the consecration of the Bishop of Shyira

Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi urges Christians of Shyira Anglican Church to embrace the Government programs towards positive change of their lives and the entire Country.

He made the remarks yesterday 5th March 2017 in Musanze District while addressing Christians at the consecration of the New Shyira Anglican Bishop Reverend Samuel Mugisha Mugiraneza.

Anastase Murekezi pointed out that the Government of Rwanda appreciates the partnership between the Anglican Church and the Government especially in health and education sectors.

“Some of the examples of partnership between the Government of Rwanda and Anglican Church are the existence of Gahindi and Kigeme Hospitals in Kayonza and Nyamagabe Districts respectively as well as the newly under construction Shyira Hospital in Nyabihu District” said PM Murekezi

Anglican Church also have health centres, primary and secondary schools around the country that play a great role in the development and welfare of Rwandans, we proudly appreciate this and commit the Government support to do more, Anastase Murekezi added. 

Prime Minister Murekezi called church leaders to play an important role in sensitizing Christians to respect values of the Rwandan family, as the later is a foundation of development.

He further urged them to instill Christians to massively subscribe to the community health insurance commonly known as Mutuel de Santé, to ensure adequate hygiene, take children at school, increase agriculture productivity as well as adopting the culture of saving.

Shyira Diocese, One of the 11 Anglican Church Dioceses in the Country was founded in 1984 and today counts 102 thousands Christians who ensemble in its 66 parishes.
